What to Expect When You Consign
Thank you for choosing The Resale Boutique! We appreciate the opportunity to sell your items and want to make the consignment process as easy and transparent as possible. Please review the following policies before bringing in your items.
1. Drop-Offs & Processing
Consignment drop-offs are accepted Wednesday through Sunday, beginning 30 minutes after we open and ending 30 minutes before we close.
Drop-Off Hours:
Wednesday–Saturday: 11:30 AM–6:30 PM
Sunday: 12:30 PM–3:30 PM
- Due to limited space, please bring no more than 25 items per drop off.
- If you have more than 25 items, please email us in advance to schedule an appointment
- Please bring items neatly folded in paper bags or on hangers we may keep
- Please no boxes or plastic totes
- Review our Consignment Agreement and Terms before leaving your items
Items are not reviewed or processed at the time of drop-off. Our team carefully reviews, selects, prices, and prepares each item for the sales floor. Depending on the volume of consignments we receive, please allow up to 30 days for your items to be processed and added to your consignment inventory.
2. Items We're Unable to Accept
Items that do not meet our consignment standards will not be set aside for later pickup and will automatically be donated.
Because we have limited storage space, we are unable to hold rejected items. Please only bring items that you are comfortable donating if they are not accepted.
A tax-donation receipt may be provided upon request.
3. Your Online Consignor Account
As your items are processed, they will appear in your online consignor inventory.
You can log in anytime through the Consignor Access page on our website to view your account, inventory, and sales.
There is a $2 monthly account access fee while you have active consignment items in the shop. This fee is automatically deducted from your sales balance.
4. How Long We Keep Your Items
We generally keep “Standard Merchandise” for 90 days.
“Select Merchandise” and Specialty Items may be kept longer and will remain available until they sell. We may also list select items online, as some merchandise sells best through our online channels.
At the end of the consignment period, any “Standard Merchandise” that has not sold will remain with The Resale Boutique. We may continue to offer these items for sale, with proceeds going toward the boutique to help offset the rising costs of operating a small business in today’s economy, or we may donate them to a charitable organization.
A tax-donation receipt may be provided upon request.
We carefully select the brands we accept to ensure our inventory reflects the current styles, quality, and labels our customers are looking for. Our focus is on premium, designer, and boutique-quality brands, including labels commonly found at retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Von Maur, Anthropologie, and EVEREVE.
Please understand that passing on an item does not necessarily mean there is anything wrong with it—it simply may not be the right fit for our shop at that time.
Our Preferred Brands

5. Consignment Split
Our standard consignment split is:
- 40% to the consignor
- 60% to The Resale Boutique
Your 40% share is based on the final selling price of your item.
6. Checking Your Balance
You may check your consignor account and sales balance anytime through the Consignor Access page on our website.
You may also use your available consignor balance toward purchases at The Resale Boutique at any time.
7. Consignor Payments
Payments are available after the 10th of each month for items sold during the previous month or earlier.
You may:
- Stop into The Boutique to pick up a check at no charge, or
- Contact us to request that your check be mailed to you for a $1.00 mailing fee.
- you may use your balance as store credit at anytime
8. Unclaimed Balances
Consignment balances must be collected or used within one year of becoming available.
Please make sure to monitor your consignor account and collect your balance in a timely manner.
What We Consider "Standard Merchandise" vs. "Select Merchandise"
For the purposes of our consignment policy, "Standard Merchandise" generally include everyday clothing, accessories, shoes, and jewelry items that have a lower resale value and are commonly available in the resale market.
"Select Merchandise" may include designer or luxury brands, premium labels, vintage or highly sought-after pieces, unique items, and merchandise with a higher resale value. These items may be kept longer than the standard consignment period to give them the best opportunity to sell.
Because every item is different, The Resale Boutique determines the category and consignment period based on factors such as brand, condition, demand, seasonality, rarity, and expected resale value.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We love receiving your beautiful pieces! To help us keep The Resale Boutique fresh, current, and filled with items our customers are looking for, please use these guidelines when choosing what to consign.
WE’RE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR:
Clothing • Shoes • Handbags • Jewelry • Accessories
- We are especially looking for:
- Brand-name and Designer Labels
- Current Styles purchased within approximately the last 2 years
- Casual, everyday Clothing that fits today's trends
- Pieces that are clean, fresh, and in excellent condition
- Shoes and Handbags that show little to no wear
- Unique vintage-chic pieces that have a stylish, current look
CONDITION MATTERS
Please take a close look at your items before bringing them in. Clothing should be freshly laundered and ready to go on the sales floor.
We cannot accept items with stains, odors, excessive wear, pilling, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, pet hair, or other noticeable flaws.
A good rule of thumb:
Would you be excited to buy it today? If yes, we’d love to take a look!
WHAT WE’RE NOT ACCEPTING RIGHT NOW:
- Skinny Jeans (premium denim may be considered)
- Bridesmaids Dresses or Formal Wear
- Clothing over 2 years old, with the exception of select vintage-chic pieces.
- Items that need cleaning, repairs, or extra TLC
A LITTLE TIP WHEN CLEANING OUT YOUR CLOSET
Think CURRENT • CASUAL • CLEAN • EXCELLENT CONDITION
Our inventory needs change based on the season, current trends, and what our customers are shopping for, so we may not be able to accept every item if it isn’t the right fit for our shop at this time.
Thank you for helping us keep The Resale Boutique filled with fresh, fashionable finds!
Thank You!
We truly appreciate your business and your trust in The Resale Boutique. Thank you for helping us give beautiful pre-loved items a second chance!
